Get In Line

After 25 years, its about time!  Four children, many guests, and one cat who probably needs de-clawed, have all contributed to the need.  It has served us well, but with stained fabric and drooping buttons, it’s about to leave the Kelly house.  I don’t feel a bit bad about the money that I’m getting ready to spend, except that I probably should have done it sooner.  My wife has chosen not to be embarrassed when we have people over, and as always, has just tried to make them feel comfortable in our very lived-in home.

So what has happened?  I’m not exactly sure, but I know this.  During the 40 days of seeking after God I changed some of my spending habits.  At the end of the 40 days I began experiencing some unexpected blessings.  I decided that 25 years was long enough, and one of  my wife’s hopes should become one of my priorities.  Surprisingly (and maybe not so surprisingly)  I’ve had money show up from places I didn’t expect.   And I can’t tell you how good it feels to be helping Collene achieve one of her goals.  I feel like God is saying “Yes – go for it!”  It’s a good feeling. I’m  not turning back.

Is there anything financial that needs to change in your life?  Are you staving off discontent and/or fear with your purchasing power?  Are you looking for rest in the wrong places?  Maybe God wants you to stop and rediscover the joy of financial simplicity with the right focus.  Are you honest with God’s tithe?  Are you faithful and generous with your offerings?  Do you have a cause that’s bigger than yourself?  God’s family, and your family – are certainly two excellent places to begin.

So I’m inviting you to get your priorities to the place that bring you the greatest joy.  We say we are living in the last days – and I think we are.  So lets stop and get practical and make sure that God’s cause is well funded and financed.  Let’s make the decisions God can bless.  And perhaps some time in the future we can spend some time together sitting on my wife’s new couch.  If past history is any indication  maybe this next couch will be the last one we’ll need to buy – at least it will make it through the grand children!

So get in line other wants and wishes.  I’m on a mission for God – and for my wife, and it’s a great feeling!
